Melbourne is touted as the city of art, coffee and Aussie rules, so Jo was obviously emphatic! Excusing the sarcasm, she was excited for the little alleyways, boutique shops and penguins at St. Kilda, and that's where we headed. Our first night was spent penguin hunting in the dark (unsuccessfully), a trip to the local Taphouse (that was actually the name of the place) which had 14 craft beers on tap and a roaring log far. We pulled up fireside Chesterfield's and heaven!
Day two meant goodbye Hyundai getz and hello Melbourne CBD. Starting at Queen Vic market for dim sum, I found me an orange hat (fiddler!!). We started a walking tour which we didn't finish, made a bid for free wicked tickets which we didn't get and had the BEST spuds on Brunswick Street. With a look at Ned Kelly's armour and our day was done and back to St. Kilda our tram went. That night Jo broke her nando's virginity :)
The day after started with a pumpernickel bagel and became a day of alley art and a few beers with Ben Lau in central station. Seeing Ben was a blast from our Vietnamese past and we had a cracking couple of hours reminiscing of drunken train journeys and even drunker boat trips (VODKA STOP!!). Another attempt at penguin spotting failed us and the fairy penguin remained elusive.
Up early and back to Sydney for 5 weeks of work before back on the road...

Janet Now Understand the nick name ORANGE fiddler! This has brought back memories of The Swan in Missenden which had a Tap Room. Ask Jo. Love J x
