Soooo. After a franztastic time in Franz Josef, we began turning our attentions to Queenstown. With each stop we have made since Auckland, weve been one step closer to the adrenaline capitol of the world...in fact we were now exactly one stop away, and that stop? Wanaka!!
Another early start leaving Franz Josef, first stop lake matheson to bear witness to it's alluring mirror effects! Thinking back to that walk around the lake will forever turn a frown outside down-the kinda scene that I'd once presumed could only be captured by a fancy lens, seen through my own nakey eyes!
We arrived in Wanaka mid afternoon, giving Hannah and I a chance to pop to the supermarket and later explore the town with Ashley and Rich. Wanaka seemed like a pleasant ol place, small by UK comparisons, yet it seemed to have everything you'd need- I could live there that's for sure! The main strip overlooks a lake, lake Wanaka if I'm not mistaken, the deepest lake in all of NZ!
Later that evening Hannah, Ash,Rich and I went to join in the fun 'killer pool' comp we had signed up for in the bar under the hostel!!!!...except when we got there we discovered we were the only ones to put our names down.
The only thing buzzin' about that bar was the mozzies!
A relatively un eventful evening...'last one of those for while', I had hoped and with Queenstown so close I could almost taste the 'Fergburgers'...my hopes and dreams were soon to come true!
Only one real pit-stop before Queentowns the next morning: Puzzleworld!!! As soon as I entered the optical illusion based 'theme park', I thanked myself for not having drunk the night before- some of the tricks there are out of this world! My favourite part was experiencing the techniques used in 'Lord of the Rings' to make objects and people seem bigger/smaller than they really are! My least favourite part was getting so lost within the massive maze that we had to eventually give in and use the emergency exit! Much to the annoyance of my competitive side!
Anywhoo! See you in Queenstown! Mines a teapot!
Picture note: check out the loos in puzzle world! Just be sure not to zoom in!
