Day four. Again I slept well. No body aches or pains. Another relatively easy day today to acclimatise with a four hour uphill, downhill and flat track with small pebbles and rocks. And still that insidious dust. I can't even seem to scrub my knuckles clean. The weather is amazing but full sun is hot for trekking and copious quantities of sunscreen is needed everywhere. Day three. Today is easier than yesterday with not so much uphill climbs over rocks and stepping up. That is the killer especially as we are climbing up to 4600 metres today. 4 hours walking with several half hour jaunts uphill but it was a very slow pace. Day two. Great sleep, body excellent with no aches or pains. Could be that bottle of red I snuck in my pack! Not! It was pretty chilly. Finally arrived at Kilimanjaro after a 45 minute flight from Nairobi. A small 40 seater plane took us through clear skies at 19,300 ft. I did a double take when the pilot told us, those on the left of the plane would have a great view of the mountain, as we flew close. Hang on a minute!
