A freezing start from Hanmer this morning to travel to Akaroa.
We are feeling somewhat weary on this amazing morning. I think that we are at the end of our trip and this is our last stop, that we are preparing ourselves for the trip home.
I have to say, we will be glad to shed all these layers of clothes, the Ugg boots and beanies.
Bill won't freeze any more and won't need to wear his beanie to bed. Thank God for small mercies!!!! Not the best look.
We will need to spend one day cleaning the van up, sorting out the groceries and packing our bags.
We walked around Akaroa, lunched (no, not a pie) and bought some bits and pieces; drove up down, through and back small hamlets and hills, visited an old cemetery where many headstones were toppled in the last earthquake and visited the site of an historic timber mill in Robinson's Bay, where my great-grandfather worked and lost his leg in a mill accident so many years ago. Glad he didn't die of his wounds or I may never have been.
Apart from that we did little, before heading back to Christchurch and the van drop off!
Thanks to you all who have tagged along for the ride! It has been a great trip, but I do look forward to being in our own caravan the next time we embark on a trip.
Till next time xxxxx
