Alreet???
We have now added another countey to our tour, we are in Laos, Loa, Laoa, i dunno how to spell or pronounce it cause everyone does differently.
We Left Chiang Mai on a mini bus, was the first real long distance bus ride we have had like, we got shoehorned in the back with the bags. The bus journey wasnt to bad like, we eventually got to Chiang Kong, the border town where we crossed into Laos. We sorted a few things out for the next day and pritty much went straight on the drink like. We watched Forrest Gump and had a load of beer with Rutger a guy who we met from Holland and a Canadian couple who were canny, so our last night in Thailand was a well good one.
The next day we crossed the Mekong river into Laos, the border itself was a little mad like, but not too bad. We got taken round to our slow boat which would take us to Pak Beng, where we wouls stay for the night. We got a few things for the boat, Beer Lao, and headed to the pier (a rocky bank with a plank) We sat at the back of the boat with Rutger and a couple who were on our bus, Laura and Ash from Leicester. The boat trip was pritty quick considereing it was 7 hours, but it flew by with the beer and football talk that went round, we were also sitting next too a Charlton and Wolves fan. We got to Pak Beng and headed to find a guesthouse, which was easy, then went for an Indian, Lovely. We than had a few beers and headed for bed, mainly because the electricity went off at 10.30 and we wouldnt be able too see a thing.
We headed for our boat the next day, which was smaller than the day before and twice as many people, but it was ok the Americans sorted it. This boat trip was a little more boring, and we had little to eat. We sent most of the day drinking and talking about our favorite food, mainly currys and Big Mac's. We met another Geordie couple who were traveling from India after four month of being away, well impressed. When we got to Luang Prabang, we again headed for the cheapest guesthouse we could find, and went straight for food, befor a few beers and bed.
We only spent a day in Luang Prabang, and three getting here. It was a nice little town, but it was really just a stop off before heading to Vang Vieng, but it was nicely chilled and you get far less hassle in Laos than you do in Thailand. Our only full day in Luang Prabang we spent eating and drinking our way around the small street, but it was hoying it down so we were pritty stuck anyway. We had a cracking balcony over looking the Mekong to drink on.
We head for Vang Vieng next, for tubing, so we will update you again from there. We get there the day of the Final so hopefully we can stop up for that.
Sooooooo Night Night Campers, see you in Vang Vieng.
P.S. COME ON SPAIN
