Hey all. We arrived in Salta yesterday afternoon, a city in the Northwest of Argentina, after getting a 22 hour bus from Buenos Aires, where we've been since our last entry. Meeting up with our London friends (Nat, Josh, Karim, Pani) the last week was cool, they're probably back in Britain by now having just come from Rio. Will was kinda ill though, and so he was more or less (good Argentine saying) apartment ridden for the week, and ate for the first time in 3 days last night. Pizza. It has healing qualities apparently. Everyone made it to this club in Olivos on friday night though, which had 2 rooms (electronic and samba) and an outdoorsy bit which transpired to be a foam pit surrounded by dancers. So we all got coated in foam, and then the 8 of us all went back to the 1 bedroom apartment in Olivos. That was: 5 in the bed, 2 on the floor, Pete (inexplicably) on the sofa. Other than that, took exercise for the first time in the form of football at the hostel the guys were staying at. Also Pete mostly spent the week trekking around the city, visiting La Boca, home of the world famous Boca Juniors and in turn the great Juan Roman Riquelme, and Florída Street, a kind of touristy shopping street. We were also introduced to 2 drinks: Licuados, basically fruity smoothies made with either milk or water, and Caipirinha, which should become the staple alcoholic beverage of the trip. Salta seems a pretty cool, layed back city, this Anglo-Argentine guy helped us out in the post office earlier today, and these Swedish people gave us 10 pesos for our dinner because we were drinking orange juice and not fanta. We took a cable car up to the top of a giant hill overlooking the city today and have added some photos from that. Otherwise our hostel is fine We're getting a bus at midnight tonight to La Quiaca on the Bolivian border and then a bus from Villazón in Bolivia to Tupiza, where we'll get tours of the Bolivian salt flats. We'll update again after all that is finished with.
