The last time I wrote on my blog was Australia Day weekend which was a great fun experience! Since then we have visited Mooloolaba and are now in Airlie Beach.
We stayed with Brian, Sue and Jackson whilst on the Sunshine Coast. We had so much fun with them. Whilst we were with them we visited Australia Zoo which was awesome! The shows were definitely worth seeing, there were birds flying around the arena and then they brought the crocs out! The lady dealing with the big croc was pritty nervous because they had the largest croc out and she said that he is a bit unpredictable, Chels and I had to cover our eyes at point in fear that this croc was going to attack but we soon learnt that a human can outrun a croc on land. We hung out with the roo's in the park, walked through a bird atrium (Chelsey was very brave!), we saw giraffes, rhinos, cheetah, and a baby baby turtle, it was such a great day! We spent a day at Caloundra in the water, exploring the shops, spending our last few dollars on a lottery ticket thinking that it would be a great return if we won, we even planned out how we would spend the winnings, surprisingly we didnt win! We sat and watched the Kite surfers, it looks like so much fun, i definitely want kite boarding to be my new hobby when I am home! Last Friday Sue took us to view the Glass House Mountains, to a little village Maleny, we stopped at a lovely lake for lunch and a cup of tea, to another lovely village which had the yummiest fudge! And then we stopped off at Etamogah Pub. I remember visiting Etamogah pub last time I went to Australia with my family. They had the best luging track out the back, you had to run your car onto a van which would drive you up the hill. Unfortunately the luge track is no longer there and has instead been replaced by 'Aussie World', shame! But we did enjoy a lovely cider there! That evening was great fun! All the family including Jared, Kristy and children and Josh, Brooke and family. We all enjoyed Brians famous curry!
The following day Brian and Sue took us to Noosa beach which was so nice to see and then we enjoyed a 'proper aussie bbq' on the side of the water (burgers with beetroot of course!). After a quick pit stop for a cheeky cider we went back to Brian and Sue's to meet Gail, Doug and Tahlia. I remember meeting Gail and Doug last time I was in Auz so it was lovely to see them again with their daughter!
To prepare us for our 18hour bus trip on Sunday evening Brian and Sue took us for a hike up Mount Coolum. This was great fun! It wasn't a long hike but it was steep which meant the views from the top were great! It was sad saying goodbye to Brian, Sue and Jackson. It was so lovely to spend time with them, 13 years after our first trip to Auz, although it felt like I had only seen them last week!
And that brings us to now, we are now in Airlie beach doing our final HelpX stay. The family we are staying with are lovely! Laurily and Rob have 3 small boys and have a beautiful house on 5 acres about 10 minutes away from Airlie Beach. We have our own living quarters here which is lovely! Since being here we have visited Airlie beach for the day (it is beautiful) where we went for a walk along the boardwalk. Tonight we are having dinner with the family, tomorrow we are going into Airlie again and saturday we are visiting the markets with the family!
