Nikki's World Travels
Well i spent my last few weeks taking a look around western australia and to be honest it was one of the highlights of my trip. The scenery was absolutely beautiful and the waters were amazingly clear. So less touristy than the east side as q a way out of all the main tourist stuff. Anyway, i started off in perth where i stayed with wade (used to work with at ugc) and his girlfriend janet who both welcomed me into their home for 5 days while i checked out perth. They live in Yokine - north of the city which is just a simple bus ride away - luckily i didnt get lost at all - but i did see some characters on the bus like one aboriginal woman who climbed on and practically sat on my lap and leaned into me - i pretended i couldnt understand so she spent her time yelling at the other passengers to get off - q funny really - the driver was v apologetic to me when i got off!!
Had some really lovely relaxing days taking in the sightsof the city from Kings park which is on the top of a hill behind all the main hustle and bustle.
I also spent a day over at freemantle looking around the markets and the abundance of coffee shops everywhere (well i was in my element!)
I also went diving over at Rottnest Island. It wasnt one of the most spectacular dives thative done but it was great fun as had loads of swims throughs and tiny holes to squeeze through - not so easy done with a giant tank on your back. The first dive i did i was so cold i thought i would die (ok slight exaggerration there by miss marshall but i couldnt feel my toes)! So anyway on the second dive i had 2 wetsuits on and a hood - unfortunately (not) i didnt take a photo!! Had a chance to have a quick look at rottnest island during the lunch break and it looked really lovely - if i had longer i wouldve gone back over to spend a day there cycling around.
So that was my few days in perth - very lovely city - really liked it there.
love nikki
