Nikki's World Travels
well.......spent the last weekend visiting lorena in uruguay and seeing the local area too. My boat from buneos aires wasnt too bad then i had a bus to get me to montevideo so i pretty much slept the whole way. In montevideo met up with lorena at the bus station - was so nice to see her again then we headed to her flat to drop all my stuff. In the arvo i was shown around the whole old town area, bositos, puerto antiguo and got a real feel for the city. I also tried my first bizcocho with dolce de leche - man i love that stuff now and Mate whcih is a kinda of tea they drink out of lil pots - strange flavour but i actually liked it! Back at her flat i met her parnets pepe y cristina - two lovely people as they ahd a party to go to in town. So we sat down and ate bizcochos and loads of pastries. So had a real chilled day - decided not to go out as both so tired so instead ordered pizza and had a good catch up!
Next day we went with her parents in the car to their home in punta del este - a coastal area very popular with argentinians but very expensive too! Really beautiful area. So after seeing their house (so nice) and meeting her sis oh and the dog we went out in the car to see some of the sights like los dedos, punta ballena, un puente which is very cool as its like a mini fair ground ride! I also bought myself a mate pot from a local market place. In the arvo we decided to veg out and watch a dvd so rented Guess Who which was actually q funny! In the evening lorena and her mum and sis had a party to go to so i stayed in and watched some tv and made the most out of having my own room and my own space away frm the hostels.
Following day kinda woke up late but we went to see lucia's (lorenas sis) gliding lesson and drank mate while watching her. Then we went back for lunch - thier dad had cooked some fish on the bbq with mussels and herbs and made a roquefort cheese sauce too!! Wow it was amazing!! So in the arvo we went to the mall and had a lil drive along the coast before getting the bus back to montevideo.
I left then on monday morn for iguasu falls in argentina. It was so nice staying with lorena and had a great time seeing uruguay - its a really nice country and its tiny - has population of 3million!! So anyway, just want to say a big thank you to lorena and her parents for having me - i had a great time and it was cool to practice my spanish so much!! You'll be pleased to know its slowly improving!
So that was uruguay!! ¡Que quay! (do you get it?? well Em will!!!)
