Varanasi (possibly India's holiest city) is one of the oldest continually inhabited cities in the world dating back thousands of years. It is one of the most sacred pilgimage sites for Hindus (1000000 people a year) and has about 100 ghats or Hindu temples - its also where many wish their final resting place - to be cremated here means being liberated instantly from the cycle of births and rebirths.
