Hey,
So the follwing day after the Glacier walk, we set off on our way to Lake Wanaka, stopping off on the way at Lake Matherson where if your good enough (like me) you can take a perfect reflection photo of Mount cook and the Sothern Alps on the lake. We also stopped of to have a dip in the worlds coldest lake/stream !! this was Freezing NO JOKE, check out the pics. The sun was beaming down and the water was a stunning blue...but only because it was fresh form the Glacier.
Wanaka was a nice town but we only stopped the 1 night. The next day we set off over to Queenstown, again stopping off at a few places along the way including a place called puzzling world, where me and Andy spent over 45 mins trying to do a jigsaw puzzle. We were so determined to do it that we decided we would buy it if we ran out of time...untill we realised it was over $70 (stupid thing).
Queenstown is the Adventure capital of NZ. The first night there after meeting some new people from the bus (including Vicky and Kirsty) we all went out for a top night out. The next day some of us (inc me) did nothing while Dave went and jumped off everything and anything he could find. Later that day Dave, myself and Andy went Lugeing which was a blast and at times a tad dangerous (a bit of healthy competition nearly turned into certain DEATH). Again that night had another good night out. The follwing day i set off on a full day trip to Milford sound, this is supposed to be the highlight of NZ. Lucky for me then that it rained for most of the day ! I was gutted !!!! It was easy to see that it would be stunning in the right weather. But my luck wasnt in. Ne Mind. A much quieter night that night as we were all leaving on the early bus the following morning.
The next day we headded back to Christchurch but thankfull only for 1 night. Andy had stayed in Queenstown to do some trecks for a few days. Dave, Flo and Emma were all staying in Christchurch for another night as they were all flying out of NZ so that left me on my billy again to start the tour of the North Island on my own, although i would meet up with Kirsty and Vicky along the road.
The first stop was Kaikoura, nothing to say about that place as there was NOTHING to do, apart form a long walk ! so only stayed 1 night then headed over to Picton to catch the ferry over to Wellington in the north island. Wellington is a nice enough town. Stayed a couple of nights and did city things like went to the Museum and cinema and made friends in the hostel and watched T.V.
From Wellington it was upto Taupo, but i only have 15 mins left so will update again soon...well i have to because i dont think they have tinternet on the beaches of Fiji where i will be in 2 days hahahaahahahahahaha hope the weather is nice there.
