Made it back from Thailand and gosh it was great trip. Of all the adventures I have had thus far on my abroad trip this one was very special. On June 6th, 2011 I had stepped foot on my 6th continent! Hard to believe I have been blessed with all of these opportunities to travel the world. Anyway back to the fun detail of my trip to Phuket, Thailand.
Phuket, Thailand is a tourist island off of the mainland of Thailand. We stayed at the Marriott Resort, where we spoiled with room service, poolside view, and hot sunny weather. After arriving to the hotel we enjoyed the pool and the warm weather until the evening when we went to the Thailand amusement park called FantaSea for cultural show. It was soo cool. They sang Thai music, elephants danced, aerialists preformed, and magic! Thousands and thousands of people come to this very park to see the show so it was quite to treat. While we were at the park Rebecca and I dressed in Thai attire and went around the park for a mini photo shoot. If you look at the pictures I posted you will see our costumes and make-up, it was a neat experience.
The next morning we got up at the crack of dawn and headed of to James Bong Island. I am not sure which movies were exactly filmed on there but I know at least one of them. During the day tour we hopped off the boat and got into canoes. While in the canoes we had to lay flat on our backs in order to get through the caves. Once we made it through the caves we headed to James Bond Island. It poured for a bit but then the sun came out and we were back into the canoes. Once we had made it back onto the big boat we went for a swim in the middle of the Indian Ocean. The water was so warm! After a busy day of swimming, canoeing, and sightseeing, we headed back to our place for a good nights rest.
On Tuesday, Becca and I spent the morning at the pool and the afternoon at the markets. Quite the experience using my bargaining skills! That evening we went to the Phuket Hard Rock Café. Our last day in Phuket we went on an elephant trekking tour. At the park saw elephant and monkey shows as well as rice farming demonstrations. Later that afternoon, we visited the Big Budda. The Budda was constructed back in 2002 and is now still under construction. The Budda provides a space for thousands of people to pay their respects. After the Big Budda tour we went back to the markets for the evening.
Over all it was quick but perfect trip. Wish you all could have been there to explore it with me. Now that I am back to reality, I only have two more weeks! Getting so excited to see you all coming to visit. Be sure to back your warm clothes it was 12 degrees Celsius here! But it was 80 degrees up north so you are going to need both!
Well can't wait to see you all soon! Check out the many pics and videos I posted, it will be like you were with me!
