Now that Helen has written about how she feels and what she is looking forwards to, I felt inclined to do my part so here we go!
The top 5 places I am most looking forward to and why:
1) Philippines (my sister's extended family are from the Philippines and I love how Rey's family are a close knit family)
2) Guatemala (an old friend stayed there for a couple of years and wrote me emails about her stay, it sounded amazing from her emails and made me feel that I have to go and see for myself)
3) Nepal/Tibet (how can you not resist the Himalayan Mountains?)
4) Argentina (people have been going on about their steaks and I love my steaks, so there you go)
5) Vietnam (Top Gear special show and Halong Bay)
How do I feel about going?
Two words to describe how I feel: I'm both excited and scared at the same time, I went travelling for six months with Fergus 10 years ago - that was a crazy fast paced trip but this time it's for two years at a more leisurely pace. It'll be good to embrace the cultures and learn more about their history, lifestyles etc. I love the fact that we have tried to keep the plan as minimum and as flexible as possible to give us the opportunity of doing what we want to do at the time instead of sticking to an itinary. I am also excited to spend some quality time with Helen as in London, life is just crazy fast with so many things happening at once so it'll be good to step back and enjoy the world with her.
We also got friends and family who will be visiting us at some point around the world which makes it even more sweeter.
What will I miss about UK?
1) Roast dinner
2) Cup of tea
3) Family and friends (naturally)
4) The fact that I can arrange quick drinks with friends after work on the same day
5) Banter with the boys in Fulham DFC changing room. (How gay does that sound? haha)
