Ok whoo, hungover bloging always good............so this is the rest of my NZ trip so from Nelson to Christchurch.......
So morning after kayaking, had to get on the Kiwi bus, with a bunch of new people, so on the way to Westport, we stopped at an awesome lake, where all the Kiwi experience brochure photos had been taken, so time for cliche photos jumping in the lake, only like 8 people from the bus of say 40 actually jumped in, so cliche photos done we moved onto Wesport, where our driver set up a 3 legged pub crawl, which was a great idea seeing as the banter on the bus at the moment was none existent (the only banter was some annoying people from holland, who kept playing hard house music all trip weather people wanted to listen to it or not....my mate from holland kept apologising on behalf of the dutch people whilst slating them, made me laugh). So 3 legged pub crawl was great laugh, although Wesport was like a dead town, met some locals, who were all working in the mines, was quite sad talking to them about the disaster that happend in greymouth. Me and my 3 legged collegue Kate didn't win the race but won the 'longest being tied together' competition (free shot!!!) .
Next day, very hungover, managed to just about rise up. We made a few stops on the way to our next place....Lake Maniphua....which was really surine, and saw what was known as the 'pancake peninsula' but that was kind of broken by stupid hard house dutch people, again my friend from holland was very apologetic which made me laugh, we asked them to turn it off (well our loud french friend Vic (love you Vic) did) and they just turned it down, was quite annoying seeing how pretty the place was you just wanted to enjoy the crashing of the waves like.....idiots!! That night we stayed at a place called the Poo Pub, which was owned by this legend (who's name i can't remember), but basically its a fancy dress party every night here, and so our theme was plastic bags (hence photo), mainly due to everything in Greymouth being shut for a memorial for the miners. So dressed up as what i thought was a cross between the 'Ultimate Warrior' and a Mexican wrestler, i got the name of 'The Gimp'...Pulp Fiction flashbacks.... was a great night which took a while to get going but went very well eventually, i kept the mask on all day which made my head sweat like hell!!
So again hungover (i know, i know....new bus the driver was trying to get us to bond through alcohol....which worked, met some cool people on this new bus), we travelled to 'Franz Josef', where we were going to meet up with the old gang as it was a 2 night stay over. Was pretty much a nothing day so did my Sloth impression and slept all way there, then jumped in the hostel jacuzzi, slept there, then went out and nailed Kareoke, me and Diedierick coming 2nd singing Queen's Crazy little thing called love (i feel i carried it) and so0 getting a $35 bar tab.....at 1am...so we bought everyone shots, aren't we nice!!
Next day was the glacier trek which was absolutly amazing!!!!! Myself Diederick and Q, was great fun and incredible. THe glacier was like walking through an icy desert which was fantastic, alot of thinking time on the glaciers, which as i've said before i was a bit of a mind spaz as normal. That night we just relaxed and i bumped into my mates Micheal and Ramona, who were with me in South America, which was unexpected (they saw me in the jacuzzi........again), so was good just to chill with them, reminded me of more relaxed times. That night DD (diedierick) made a decision which we agreed on, to skip Wanaka tomorrow and get bus straight to Queenstown, to join in on final 'Fine night' with the old bunch as some of them were leaving next day...roll on a s*** load of travelling!.
Bus ride to Wanaka was pretty boring and innane, got bored, listened to alot of punk, fell asleep and dribbled on my face alot (who knew the dribbling on a girls was a bad thing, i thought they liked it?? .....). Got to Wanaka, then had to get another bus, to which me and DD where argueing on which side of the road it picked up (i was right, screw you DD, love you), then got to Qtown, saw the old gang did Fine Night (to those who aren't sure what Fine night is.........basically everytime you say/do/act/make/do something stupid, it gets noted down....those from rugby teams will know this from court sessions on tours....then on one big night all these things get brought back up and you have to drink for it....eg. my mate got a fine for, when a mate was stretching over him to put a plug in, saying "is it in yet", i got fined for genreally being an agry welshman....i can't help hating small dogs and people who call me english)...........ANYWHOO.....so yea did this game in the hostel with cheap boxed wine, even though not supposed to drink in hostels, then out, got kicked out of another place, where they don't actually kick you out, they tell you to go get something to eat?? I was actually stood up doing nothing, all the girls especially Becky (bless you beck), went a bit mad and tried standing up for my corner, but to no avail, but night contiunued back at the hostel so happy days!!
Following morning, went for a fergburger hangover cure (massive burger restaurant in Qtown), day consisted of a walk, chilling on the beach, me jumping of stuff into the water (and i'm the old one apparently, but yet probably act the most childish.....come on jumping of stuff is fun!!). Qtown is a very 'hip' place, so i didn't feel too at home here, its a party everynight, don't really understand how anyone could actually live there!! Quite a few 'trendy' 'well toned' people looking cool...maybe jealousy, but who knew, i had my mates and they were the coolest people there. That night we watched film after trying to dominate the tv room for a while, we got it which was GREAT,.
Today was the day of my bungee, in true me fashion i thought i'd scare my mum witless, so skyped them in the morning and told them i was jumping off a 143m ledge (3rd highest in the world, also Qtown is the home of bungee, its where the crazy stuff started), to which she wasn't too impressed, but i'm still alive so all good. On the way to the bungee, i was like a fat kid in an all you can eat buffet, just buzzing like i do. The jump itself......such a strange feeling of absolutely no control, when your falling your mind just empties....all these cool ideas of what your gonna do, just go, then you bounce back up and it all comes flooding back, and i just started laughing like a hyeena on laughing gas. It was the most amazing thing i've ever done, and i now have an aim to do the 2nd and 1st highest in my life. Was funny seeing friends later who didn't seem to enjoy as much as me, but maybe adrenaline was my G spot??!! So anyway we all went out that night with our adrenaline rushes and new bungee tshirst got everyone to sign, whilst drinking out of T pots, was good days.
Milford Sound the next day, which apparently is battling for 8th wonder of the world. Its an Fjord (cheers for that word Kate), where a glacier once was and had now gone and left amazing glacial valley. Was some outstanding scenery, with great weather so the sun bouncing off the mountains and the river/lake/estuary?? Lots of photos and also got persuaded to jump in the water (in my lovely tight boxers, due to not bring bathers), nice refreshing feel. That night then ended up having a 'Ginger Lads Night'. Our lovely ginger friend got a free tshirt, and we managed to get free ginger lover tshirts, so was all very pretty in ginger tshirts!!
This next day was last one with everyone i had met, quite sad, spent the day at a free releif concert for the families of the miners who passed in the disaster in Greymouth, was a a really relaxed day and a great atmosphere at the gig, all skanked up towards the end dancing like idiots, before going out...yes out again....like i said its a party every bloody day in this place!! So danced till stupid o clock, but come on, not going to see some of these people for a long time, but will meet some of them in Oz.
So early leave to Christchurch this morning, woke up in wrong room (has happened several times on this trip). Trip to Christchurch was long and sleepy and didn't do anything that day/night....thats it
So today was my flight to Cairns....didn't do anything in the morning except chill out, and then go to the airports. Airports make me laugh and i am kind of sick of them now. Its the most anti-social place ever, i looked up at one point and 25 of the 30 people in the room were reading books, its like "don't look anyone in the eye, they might talk to you". This was pleasantly followed by a trip to the loo before my flight and discovering a pile of s*** on the floor......cheers for my last memory of New Zealand squirty. 2 plane flights later and i got to my hostel, where phone didn't work, but luckily enough night guy saw me looking awkward outside hostel. When i got to Cairns i felt like i got hit by a brick wall of heat, i immediatly started sweating like a baboons balls!!! 27 degrees at 10pm!! Hostel itself was probably the best one i've stayed in yet 'Calypso Hostel - Cairns', really small, bar/kitchen/reception/pool/seating all withing like 2m of each other, brilliant!!! So just got to hostel dumped stuffed and had a refreshing pint (heat make you drink!!, no wonder the aussies are alcoholics!!), and relaxed before i started my adventure in Oz.
PS.......Writing style has probably changed a bit on this trip mainly cause i'm travelling and meeting so many different people i never know if i'm coming or going, its all good though, and hope your all still reading/enjoying reading my rants........Small dogs are stupid, as are old people just suddenly stopping!!
