Melbourne!
I made it to Australia in one piece and with all luggage. 8 days of fun with Alex (and Archie) in Melbourne were had.
Melbourne is a great city. Loads of food places and cute coffee establishments which serve incredible coffee. My hosts looked after me like pros. Unfortunately the weather didn't see fit to play along for the first few days. We resorted to a driving tour of Melbourne on the Saturday, following a slightly boozy night on the Friday, sampling the delights of Melbourne's finest dancing venue....
On Sunday Archie was up at the crack of dawn to run a half marathon so me and Alex were up not long after in order to be the best supporters on the course. For a long while we were the only supporters on the course! We am a lot of friends. We managed to see Archie 5 times though he saw us only 3. It also meant we saw everyone around him that many times and they were good at spotting us so we had a great time despite the cold.
We also visited the casino. A strange experience at 11am on a Sunday but it had a few people in it and apparently a key sightseeing spot in Melbourne.
Most of the week was spent with me having lazy days full of wandering the city and drinking coffee followed by meeting Alex after work and having a lovely dinner. On the last day I did a wine tour out to the countryside, the yarra valley. This was great fun. Met some interesting people and drank lots of wine samples. Excellent!
But travel I must so an overnight bus to Sydney is on the cards and off I go.
