Where's Nellie?
After flying across Russia and China, (and also Bury St Edmonds), I landed in Hong Kong. I bought an Octopus card and got on the nearest bus to where I am staying, in Mong Kok, (the locals side of town). I instantly felt the warm humid air, and a particular smell, which I smell every day here - haven't worked out what it is yet.
I made contact with my Wing Chun (Kungfu), Mater and met him for training. Funnily enough we meet outside Marks & Spencers, to go training. Yes, I accidently punched him in the mouth when I thought he had finished talking - obviously he hadn't. For the religious, it was like punching God - gulp!
This Marks & Sparks is in one many shopping malls here, where the esculators run so fast as you grab the hand rail, they snatch you on! There is also a nice coffee house thats sells decaf coffee and cakes, however, their sausage rolls are a bit iffy, am sure the sausage meat is sausage stuffing mix.
Traffic is 24hours here, with taxi's and cars beeping their horns all the time, and pedestrian crossing consatnly beep to let you know when you can go across the road. Shops aren't open until 1100 hours, and everyone comes out to walk the streets and shop in the evening, up until early hours. They are such busy people here, and don't like to waste time.
I have walked round Mong Kok, Jordan, and Tsimshtsui, and used the MTR (underground), lots. Tomorrow I am going on a tour to see Victoria Peak, Stanley Market, Aberdeen, a fishing village, and the Man Mo Temple, so early to bed - if it is possible, as being picked up at 075 hours! No rest for anyone in Hong Kong!
