Happy (belated) Mothers Day! from your as attentive as ever son. You have clearly had a great time in NZ so far. Loving the fact that J played 20/20 in what sounds like the same format as my pub team. I did nets yesterday and now cant move my shoulder - something to do with bowling it at the ceiling for an hour...

What a co-incidence meeting the guy on the other side of the world who knew Nicholls and Harrap. If my memory is still intact I remember that guy as a colleague of Chris's when he was at Whitbread's. For some reason it is not as unlikely as you think it might be because a similar thing happened to me on a recent tour round the vineyards of the Margaret River in Western Australia. Having had a surfeit of fine wine (as you do) we were delighted to stumble across a micro brewery in what to me was the "outback" at a place called Cowaramup (Aborigine for "Cowtown"). Low and behold the guy running the place was from Horsforth, and even used to live on the same road as me, sunny old Hawksworth Rd!

Since you are on your way to Tasmania try and get hold of a book called "English Passengers" by Mathew Kneale. It will gice you some idea of the immensity of the undertaking of the folks who set up the colony in the 19th century and also of the natives they destroyed in the process. Cracking read and well worth the effort.

Enjoying your updates and missing your dog! Kat collected her about noon yesterday. She's a treasure and we're already looking forward to having her next time. Hoping for a bit less mud by then though! Waiting for photos of J in the hat and M in a 'dress type thing' now.

Many a true world spoken in jest Jeremy Hugh - nearly 35 years playing this game and still dobbing it around like a beginner - where did I go wrong?
