so i have now been in carins a week. its a good town..very touristy but clean and pretty. the hostel is ok...no more bed bugs so thats a bonus!!
ok so on wedbnesday i went snorkelling on the gteat barrier reef...it was just so amazing...i was swimming with turtles and so many fish...the coral is so beatuful and the fish are just so vibrant...its hard to believe that its all from nature! we saw a reef shark too. it took us about 2 hours to get to michaelmas cay...an island made from coral which over the years has turned into a bird sanctuary....up 90000 birds can be on the island at any one time...its probably smaller than my street at home....so imagine the smell...lovely!! its one of the worlds best bird places and david attenborough has done 2 documentarys about it..so it mist be good. we then sailed on about 20mins more for the paradise reef which is in mcuh deeper water...and it gets a bit scary when the reel just stops and the sea just goes down and down in to darkness...i loved it had one of the best days...really relly enjoyed it.i went with julien...a french guy i know from bowen and some of his friends...a good day out and then we went out at night too...really good day!
on friday i went sea kayaking to fitzroy island...it takes about 45mins on the boat to get to the 339ha island...so very small. we kayaked round to nudey beach...but everybody was disapponitedly fully clothed! then round to welcome bay where we went snorkelling again and the off the little fitzroy island..about 50m off the coast off the big one...had lunch there and went on adevnture walk! i rock climbed, abseiled and tried licking the bum of a green ant...asorbic acid i think it relases...tastes like lime. a weeks worth of vitamin c in one lick!
we climbed right to the top...amazing views and then had to abseil down..had a really good day. so tired by the time i got home...straight to bed.
last night katrin, christy and julia came back from cape tribulation and so went out for a few beers...again. i will not see them agin now...so it was sad to say good bye.
having a really good time....met some great people..spent lots of money and just really enjoying being back on the road. i fly to alice springfs next saturday for one week to vsist the red centre...ayers rock..so really lloking forwrd to not seeing a beach. so now, i am off to work this hangover off by sitting by the pool and catching a few rays before i go ut witha few girls tonight from the hostel!
