Well, the four days in Singapore are coming to an end. Just in the Hangout Hostel awaiting the cab to take me to the airport, and head off to Australia
Monday 18th March
Flew to London Heathrow on Paddys Day to await the flight to Singapore on the 18th March. Checked into the hotel, The Yotel, before taking the tube into Piccadilly and had a bit of a mooch about. Went to Trafalgar Square and walked past Downing Street - Gordon didnt want to come out for a pint apparently! Bet the guards didnt even ask him!!
My cousin Ria finished work and came over to the London Eye. Myself, Nina, Debbie and Ria went on the half hour trip to look out over London. Another cousin, James, was waiting at the bottom for us. Went for a couple of drinks before heading back to the Yotel.
The Yotel is a pod like room. Just ideal for the stopover that you have to do flying from Jersey - sodding weather!!
Tuesday 18th/Wednesday 19th March
Got on the 12hour flight to Singapore at 11am on the 18th. By the time we landed in Singapore, and took the time difference into consideration, it was 8am on the 19th. We jumped in the taxi, and headed to our home for the next few days - the Hangout Hostel on Mount Emily! We were too early to check in, so we cleaned up using the facilities before taking a stroll for a look around. After about two hours - we were lost!! Found our way back to the Hostel just in time to be picked up for our Singapore City Tour
Singapore City Tour - We were taken round ChinaTown, where we went in the oldest Temple in Singapore, Little India, the Botanic Gardens and Merlion Park. The views around Merlion Park was awesome. Surrounded by the City skyline. The Merlion is Singapore's symbol - half Fish, half Lion. Had a few pix taken around this area. Headed back to the hostel taking in the sites of Parliament House
Checked into the hostel - we were upgraded to a room by ourselves...AND our own bathroom. The evening was ours, and we chilled...well, i slept, while Debbie and Nina went for a drink. Nina proceeded to twist her ankle - before alcohol!
Thursday 20th March
Woke up early to be taken on this mornings tour
Singapore Zoo - Woke early this morning to be taken to the Zoo where we had breakfast with the Orang-utans. After having my picture taken with the Orang-utans, i moved on. I mean, didnt want to get confused for one eh?! Not that there'd be any chance of that. They were having FRUIT for brekkie - as if i'd have that!! Had a picture taken with a Boa Constrictor. Had the joy of watching the Polar Bears being fed too - that was amazing! Went for a walk round the rest of the zoo. Took in the sights of Lions, Giraffes, Rhinos, and White Tigers. Man, they're beautiful animals.
Once back at the hostel, we chilled for the afternoon, awaiting the next tour of the itinerary.
Singapore by Night Tour - Picked up from hostel and taken to the Boat Quay restaurant for a four course dinner, with the main course being cooked by yours truly on a hot stone infront of him. Couldnt really complain when the steak was well, well done, instead of medium! Wanted to see the Chef, they gave me a mirror - DOH! The view by the restaurant was awesome! As with anything in Singapore, the skyline dominated. After dinner, we headed to Bugis Street for a stroll round the market before being taken to Raffles to enjoy a Singapore Sling. As they say, "You cant go to Singapore without having an original Sling!"
Friday 21st March
For the next part of the trip, another early start - i aint used to this!
Sentosa Island - First stop on this tour was the Underwater World aquarium. After this was the Images of Singapore, which is a history about the country. We then proceeded to the Dolphin Lagoon, where the Pink Dolphins put on a show. I had a picture taken with one of them - only 15SGD. We went up in the Sky Tower, which is over 350 feet high, and gave amazing views of Sentosa, and back to the mainland. Could also see Malaysia and Indonesia. After this we went to Silosa Beach, where, as usual, i proceeded to get burnt!! Hope the sunburn turns brown! Walked over to one of the manmade islands, and saw what people may say is the real Singapore/Sentosa - the shipping port. Behind this island was loads of tankers, fishing boats etc.. Had a drink and a bit to eat in Cafe Del Mar - felt like i was in Ibiza!!! The day finished off with a cable car ride over Sentosa, and Singapore harbour. Again, like any other day in Singapore, the views of the skyline were amazing!!!!!
After arriving back in town, we went for a couple of drinks, before i headed back to the hostel and covered myself in aftersun!!!
Saturday 22nd March
Pop over to the other side of the island to meet a friend of my late fathers. Unfortunately, not having his telephone number, and taxi drivers not knowing the address, even with details, this didnt happen. Back into town on the traain, i stopped off at Raffles for a bit of shopping before heading back to the hostel
See you all in Australia x
