Hong Kong day 7/ Hanoi day 1

After quite a late night we still got up early to book some flights and try to plan some last bits before heading off to the airport for our flight.

We got to Hanoi about 4PM and then had to wait for about an hour to get our VISA. There was no order to how your application was processed and some people behind us managed to get theirs back way ahead of us. When we finally got out the driver was waiting for us to take us to the hotel.It was a really pleasant drive to the hotel with the sun setting over the rice fields and all the people sitting along the roads having some food or drink. We arrived at the hotel and were asked to pay for the trips we had booked up. As we had not taken out any money yet we were escorted to the nearest ATM and took out some money. We paid and were shown to our room which was clean and nice. We went out to get some dinner and to have a look around. The streets were busy with motorbikes and bicycles and we could really see why they had devoted a section in the guide book to crossing the road. We were glad we had been to Beijing before this so were used to the large amount of traffic etc. We spoke to Graham before heading for bed.
