Well the Easter bunny is universal - what a fit bunny he must be as Santa at least has a team of reindeer to pull his fat arse around the globe. Must be the carrots as opposed to all the bickies and milk - low GI those carrots The girls got a load of chocolate as well as a Murano glass egg each from Tarn & myself. We got Mum some very swish handmade Venitian chocolate glazed fruit which should see the blood sugar monitor go off the scale. Tarn got some Lindt and I got a nice big bottle of Limoncello - nothing says Buona Pasqua better in my book than 32% alcohol lemon juice (it may get a hammering tomorrow night after another day behind the wheel in Italy) After breakfast Tarn, Mum & Grace went off to mass while I held watch over our little atheist Charlotte back at the hotel. We then went back to Venice (against my will) and pretty well did the same as yesterday - shop, eat, drink & shop. We actually managed some vegetables today in the form of a spinach and ricotta calzone. They don't seem to eat veg over here other than zucchini, eggplant and roast potato with their meals. We actually had a great meal last night of veal but when you order a side of veg you get 4 slices of zucchini and eggplant and some small roast spuds (or chips in Venice). Man I am hanging for Zuppa Verdure tonight - that vegetable soup folks. Anyway back to the toilet formerly known as Venice (I am sure it may be more bearable outside of Easter and holidays). We shopped some more and Grace finally purchased her long awaited Venetian mask to replace her Made in China Sovereign Hill knock off. I thought I may garrote her as she ummed and ahhed for what felt like days and after much cajoling from her elders bought a beautiful hand held genuine hand made Venetian carnivale mask. Tarn went back to the Murano shop from yesterday which was as spectacular the second time - I loved this shop as they had seats which are a rarity in Venice outside the eateries. She picked up another couple of nice pieces so much so that "Wog Corner" my wifes pet name for my Italian inherited furnishings may start creeping further down the hall. She even bought a red and brown carnivale mask for the lounge so I look at that as an invitation to further Italianify the casa. Anyone got Franco Cozzo's number? We then went back to the station to come home and after the girls endured another epic line for the toilet (the only thing rarer than seats, bins and manners in Venice) we jumped on a train bound for Trieste which was stopping at our stop was empty and even though it wasn't leaving for 35 minutes we made use of the comfort and the quiet. So whilst I am not looking forward to driving again I cannot wait to leave here and get within seeing distance of our family village and the rest of our trip being in Bella Toscana. As Garfagnana is a technological wilderness the updates will be in blocks whenever I can get wifi. Hopefully Lucca and Pisa will, but just looking forward to the hectic tourist rush being forgotten for a fortnight. Time for the holiday to begin. We had dinner at the trattoria we went to the first night in Venice and hit pay dirt - veggies (albeit boiled frozen mixed veg and mushy peas). Matched with a very nice Veal Scaloppine we felt cleansed. Tarn's also put some photos on Facebook so have a look-see. Time for my beauty sleep (every bit helps) Ciao for now
