A 4 hour bus journey to Tanga then a 2 hour journey to Pangani filled with the most interesting people- I must say I have never been cramped into a bus so filled with bags, objects, shopping and people. Fasinating to watch everytime the bus pulled into a stop the amount of food pushed up to the windows for sale... I must admit with the smells of all of the amazing samosas, I was rethinking my decision to be vegetarian...
Our first glimpse of the sea looked like gold.
Waking up in the morning in our tents, pitched on a campsite literally right on the beach was like paradise. I am definitely going to relish spending the week on this beach...!
Later on in the day we had heard a rumour of baby sea turtles hatching further along the beach. There was a charity there who protects the eggs of the turtles and they had prepared the site for the turtles hatching. It was a totally unexpected and wonderful experience that I really couldnt portray through photos... As soon as the basket was lifted that was covering the babies, they ran stright towards the sea- unreal how they just knew which direction to go and so sad to learn that so few would survive even the next hour let alone make it to adulthood.
The rest of the week will be spent relaxing in paradise... do I really have to go back to reality..?
