The drive from Laos to Cambodia took 2 days in an overcrowded mini-bus but was relatively trouble free.
Siem Reap: We were greeted at the bus station by swarms of tuk tuk drivers all trying to get our business/commissions which was a very overwhelming welcoming. We hired a tuk tuk drivery, Chhy, to take us out to Angkor Wat to see the sunset that night and on a temple tour the following day. Unfortunately it was cloudy & we couldn't see anything so we decided to get up very early (4:30 AM) to see sunrise. This was not an easy feat since I'm definately not a morning person. Angela, myself & Erik, a new American addition to the group, spent the whole day visiting the various 1000 year old temples. They were very impressive to see - no wonder it's one of the Wonders of the World. At all touristic sites, there are tons of children trying to sell things. They're very adorable and can all list the capital & prime minister of your country, but at the same time they're annoyingly persistent! Angkor Wat itself was nice but my favorites were 'The Bayon' which consisted of hundreds of faces and another temple 'Ta Prohm' (where Tombraider was filmed) that was surrounded by the jungle and had tree roots climbing through the temples. I will post pictures on facebook soon! We wanted to see more & try to see sunset again but were too tired after a long day of temple viewing in the heat!
