In 2000, 95% of the population had access to safe drinking water and 95% had adequate sanitation. 2007 - About 95% of Cuba's city dwellers and 77% of its rural people have pure drinking water. 94% had access to wastewater collections systems, but only 4% of the wastewater collected received any type of treatment. In the Caribbean, 70% of collected wastewater has been discharged untreated into the sea.
