Capitolio Nacional
The capital was built after the early 20th century sugar boom in Cuba. It is modeled after the U.S. Capitol, but is larger and richer in detail. It was initiated by Cuba's U.S. backed dictator, Gerardo Machado, in 1926. It took $17 million and 5000 workers 3 years, 2 months, and 20 days to build it.
