Hey, hey, hey!!! We´ve arrived in the last country of our trip sans problems. Porto Alegre isn´t really much to write home about, but it´s so cool to have finally made it to Brazil. The bus ride from Montevideo to Porto Alegre was the most comfortable, efficient ride ever. So efficient, in fact, we weren´t required to leave the bus in order to show our faces at immigration, our bus attendant did all the work for us! So, right now we´re sitting in a bus station waiting for our last long-haul bus ride to Rio. It´s very bizarre to go from joking around with the locals in their tongue to not being able to communicate at all. Tom keeps welcoming me to the world he´s been used to these last 6 weeks. I´m sure in Rio more people will speak English, until then it´ll be back to manic hand gestures and our guidebook´s dictionary! Blog yo´ll in Rio xxx
Tom:
After Buenos Aires and Montevideo, Porto Alegre understandably seems lacking in some areas (sophistication/friendliness etc...), but as Nil says it is cool to have arrived in Brazil, a country I´ve always been desperate to visit. That was the easiest land-border crossing we´ve done too. Just hand over your passport and yellow card to the attendant, and she does the rest, although it would have been nice if she hadn´t kept brushing her full-figured ass against my shoulder every time she walked past me (a point which Nil put down to her being a sassy lady)! Anyway in 26 or so hours we´ll be in Rio, and I can´t wait to finish all this long-haul bus journeying - it sucks. Love to all at home and see you soon! TY
