Hello!
I am here in Vietnam at last- arrived 2 days ago and so far love it here. I have been learning and seeing a lot about the Vietnam war with a trip to the Museum in the city with some really exciting planes and tanks (not as good as Moscow war museum it has to be said) and today I visited the Chi Chi tunnels. The tunnels were pretty cool as narrow as you would imagine and too small for western people to fit into..! They have widened a section to crawl though and I managed about 5 meters before backing out! Someone had also informed me there are scorpians down there, not to mention a near pitch black tunnel 5 meters underground not being that appeiling. There was also a shooting ranger where you could fire AK-47s and M2-15 plus some others- bloody loud but really exciting!
Other than that as I expected Vietnam is so much more developed than Cambodia and because of the former French occupation there are some really European looking architecture, which is a nice change from all the Asian I have seen latey. The people are all very friendly...apart from one rude taxi driver....and I even pampered myself with a pedicure this afternoon (It was actually a necessity!).....I may also get a hair cut before I leave Vietnam in 2/3 weeks as its under 2 pounds, love it!
Leaving for Mue Ni tomorrow, a beach/ sand dunes place for 2 nights and then onto Dalat. 6 hours on the bus, yuppy!
