Time: 3 hours
* Budapest, Hungary to Szeged, Hungary
Local Train
Comments: Cruising second class meant sitting in sleeper compartment that's was converted for sitting space. So 2 rows of 4 seats each facing each other. Not bad when the train is empty and you have the whole compartment to yourself but it could become uncomfortable if the train gets full.

Time: 2.5 hours

Overnight Eurorail Train
Comments: We had a 4 sleeper that we shared with 2 random guys (compartments that aren't filled by a single group are either men or women only rooms). Basic ticket will get you a bed in a compartment. Trains have toilets and you can buy food and drinks on board. Compartments are comfortable and taking an overnight train saves on a night's accommodation. Just make sure that it is economical compared to flying. There was 1 train change about an hour into the journey.
Cost: EUR 180/bed in a 4 sleeper compartment (about USD 260)
