Despite enjoying the comforts of Cusco post-Salcantaya trek, we decided to resume our journey across Peru and caught a cheap flight to Lima ( primarily to make the most of some surf along the coast). We checked into a hostel near the beach in Miraflores and walked the 2 mins down the hill to the coast. I hired a long board and wettie from a local on the beach and paddled out for a playful arvo wave. The waves resembled Waikiki beach and were fun for day 1 however, I soon learnt that the best waves were a bit further south around Puntas hermosa. In the meantime, Nicki was proposed to by a 4 foot local whom I must have scared off with my massive 70kg frame on emerging from the water.
