Arrived in Berlin early evening and for first time on our trip managed to check into our hostel whilst it was still daylight! Just had quiet evening, went for stroll & some dinner and naturally a few large German beers, then chilled out at hostel ready to get up early next morning.
Went on group bike tour with a guide around the city which was really good, definately worth doing as we didn't really know much about what to see or do in Berlin. Learnt a lot as it has so much history, most of which is quite sad but fascinating. Saw remnants of the Berlin wall & checkpoint charlie, the site of the bunker where Hitler committed suicide, the holocaust memorium etc etc. After all that stopped at beer garden where i discovered Berliner Weisse, beer with a shot of sweet fruity syrup - great stuff!
Later watched Germany game in big square, great atmosphere obviously as Germany won but impossible to sleep that night with horns going off til morning!
