Hi from Sydney! You will already gathered from Gayle's blog that she has decided to fly home instead of doing the East Coast of Oz...so I'm on my own! This is more exciting than scary for me...I had a great time in Melbourne meeting new people so I'm quite used to the experience by now. I got to Sydney yesterday and headed out last night to meet my friend Laura who is in Sydney at the moment. Had a great time catching up with her and Sarah, who she is travelling with. They are staying just round the corner from me and I also know a few other people I;ve met along the way (EVERYONE is in Sydney for new year!) as well as Graeme from Uni and another friend Kate from Uni! So it should be a busy week catching up with people and also joining in New Years Eve celebrations. I'm busy trying to figure out what the next couple of months will involve too...how to travel/where to travel etc.
My Christmas celebrations in Australia were so much fun, really different to being back home and it didn't feel like Christmas at all because it was hot the whole time! I had a night out on Christmas Eve in a place called Edgy (even more packed and a lot more fun than the Seafield on Christmas Eve haha!). Christmas Day began when I opened my Santa presents (yep Santa found me all the way down in Oz!) and then having a champagne breakfast in the sunshine. Could definitely get used to this weather at Christmas time! Afterwards i went to my friend Kayla's auntie's house for Christmas lunch, thankfully turkey, beef and ham with all the trimmings...don't think I could have done salad or a barbie on Christmas day! After lunch we sat outside in the sun with a few beers. It was a little strange because it didn't feel like Christmas at all and it was quite sad speaking to my family on Skype at nighttime (your Christmas morning) seeing the Christmas tree in the background!
Boxing Day was a lot of fun too...another hot day. We spent the afternoon at the beach and had a swim and then had a barbeque before going to Kayla's friends house to play Wii and have a few drinks. My last day in Melbourne (yesterday) was spent doing the same...playing Wii and drinking beer, nice chilled out way to spend my last day! It was pretty sad saying goodbye to Kayla at the airport, we've been planning this trip[ for 4 years but it went way too quickly!
I;m excited to be in Sydney and looking forward to New Years Celebrations! Hope you all have a great New Year!
