24/07/2010 Kiev, Ukraine to Riga, Latvia I was so glad to be rid of Kiev, couldn't even get breakfast because the hotel's VISA machine (and all those in the locality) were not working. Boyrispol airport is rundown and hectic, but has TWO Irish bars- nothing else, but TWO IRISH BARS!?!?! Transit airport like Rome- seems to be common on the continent- why do we call it that, we are all part of the same continent- a British snobbery I guess! Anyway, I am here ...

Travel Journal Day 1: 23rd July 2010 City: Kiev Flight: British Airways- 09:45- 15:05 arrived 15 minutes early, but took 1 hour to get through immigration: not enough staff at all, but far less security conscious than the rest of Europe, the 1 unarmed soldier at the airport looked like Hoggle from Jim Henson's Labyrinth. And so the back is packed.... Everything has been packed- unpacked, condensed and then repacked again- the time is almost upon us.
