The Journey to San Pedro The Journey to San Pedro de Attacama was probably one of the most amazing drives that you could possibly do, it takes you through the most amazing Mountains, through desert and over salt Plaines. The only problem here was the fact that Aaron realized that he may have forgotten his ipod in the hostel we left. When we got to the boarder he checked his bag and confirmed that he had forgotten it, so the next couple of hours was spent with him sulking and me taking pictures and trying to cheer him up.When we checked into our hostel we hot footed it to the cash point in order to take out some local currency so we could phone the hostel in Salta. We did and fortunately they found the ipod in his locker where he had left it, thank god for that as it had 9,000 pictures on from the last 9 months! So we could relax and take some time to soak in San Pedro. It's a gorgeous little dusty town which has been maintained like that for the full effect! There are loads of things to do here and we had decided to do the salt Plaines to Bolivia from here! Some of the food over here has been really bland, ok you can get the worlds best and cheapest steak but we needed to have something tasty, we found a good chilli house and had the most amazing food ever.In the meantime we decided to have a go at sand boarding in Death Valley (Ohhhhhh), which was finished of with a sunset over the mountains! When we went to book this though Aaron realized that he didn't have his credit card on him, so we hot footed it BACK to the cash point and it wasn't there, panic stations kicked in for Aaron the 2nd time that day! Me on the other hand took control, paying for everything on my card and taking enough money out to feed a third world country and then cancelled the cards! Our luck is just the worst, as you can imagine we had a very early night just wanting the day to be over!
Next day we were up bright and early, much chirpier, we had a 4WD through the sand and came to a stop at one of the biggest and most pure sand dunes I have ever seen, we trekked to the top and had a 5 minute lesson on how to go down with two feet attached to a board! You really do pick up a hell of a lot of speed doing it which is quite scary and had us throwing ourselves off to stop! After this we went to Valle De La Lune and watched the sunset over the mountains which was just lovely, some of the pictures are really gorgeous, but we´re having the same problem with computers as we did in Asia, really slow on the up load so will try and get them on asap! Tomorrow were up for a 3 day tour to Bolivia, its well worth waiting for trust us!
