Luckily I got quite drunk last night in the Irish bar otherwise I wouldn’t have had this headache this morning. Even better I was packing my bag in a rush at 05.45 so I could walk over to the Victorian Arts Centre.
On the way to the centre I thought I was safe as there was a twenty four shop on the way, but no Karma had caught up with me, the sign in the window read ‘back in five’ what a bummer!
I couldn’t wait any longer for fear of missing my bus, so you can imagine how happy I was when I waited fifteen minutes for the bus at the centre!
The bus arrived and had a very cool driver (Luke), he was so happy and chirpy and lifted all our hung-over moods on the bus. I got sat with Jody (Canada) and Gunilla (Sweden), and even more uplifting was we stopped at a twenty four hour store so I stocked up on ‘Powerade’ to get me rehydrated.
Glad I got sat with the normal people on the bus as there was a right mixture of weirdo’s, well four of them at least were in my category known as ‘crazy’ and not in a good sense either I mean real cookoo!
Anyway three hours later we got to Wilson’s Promontory and it was absolutely beautiful, there were mountains around and lots of greenery with a beach in the distance. We set off walking to the beach via the mountain, it was so cold walking around I had to wear my long sleeved jumper, I couldn’t believe it the summer here is colder than the UK! At the top of the mountain the view was amazing as you can see from the pics the beach was great and so empty of people so we headed down there.
Down on the beach it was even colder, I mean real freezing, and then right before my eyes out from behind some large rocks came three middle aged men totally naked running towards the sea. Those guys were crazy but were good to see they still had it in them. To warm up we all decided to play with the rugby ball just throwing it about, it worked pretty good as after an hour or so I was pretty sweaty and not that I want to admit this but I’m sure I was starting to get an earthly smell about myself, for now ill blame it on Owain from Wales perhaps it was his sheeply smell?
Back on the bus we were heading into Foster where the caravan park was in which we would be staying. Caravan Parks never sounded that appealing to me until I stayed in Newquay with the boys, and so this time I was actually looking forward to going to another!
On the way we pulled over into a field as there was a large congregation of Kangaroo’s, it was magnificent to see them in their own environment instead of some zoo or park somewhere! It was even better sneaking up on them Bush tucker man style, gosh I really need to grow up.
After my escapades in the bush and a one and a half hour journey we were at the caravan park, it looked quite good and even better there was a coach load of Aussie chicks in also in the caravan next to us.
We had a quick wash then off to the local pub, this was a real small town consisting of the usual….shop, bakers, butchers, auto repair place and of course a pub. As we walked in I was expecting to hear ‘Are you local?’ but no we were made very welcome, even the local P*ss head gave me some of his chips. We had some food of our own in there, well it was Spaghetti Bolognaise but all the same it was nice and tasty and incredibly filling.
After we got the boring part (eating) over with, it was time to get drinking, on offer was ‘Victoria Bitter’ and ‘Carlton Draught’. Having been told by everyone in the state of Victoria that the ‘Vic Bitter’ is like “Witch Piss” we went for the draught. Me and Owain got into rounds and to prevent the unnecessary need to go to the bar more often we opted for jugs!
We played pool with the girls and drank more and more jugs up until 21.00 when we could hardly see anymore. This made the pool playing thing more interesting but we persevered and managed to……….by this point I was rather wasted and my memories of this point have vanished. They did come back when I was in next doors caravan drinking with them, well they came back briefly and then totally vanished again…….draught its the future of forgetfulness!
