Hey all its my turn to write this blog as Bek has done the last few.
We are back in NYC after being in Buffalo to see the Niagara Falls. We left New york on tuesday morning at 7:30 to buffalo on the amtrak which was suprisingly comfortable and roomy, much better than the greyhound and heaps better than than flying. Took about 8-9 hours but wasnt as bad as it sounds we had a bit of a sleep and got some lunch from the food cart.... cheeseburger of course. Arrived in buffalo at about 4:30 in the arvo and it was quite a contrast from new york.... dont think we saw a car for about 4 hours, and deffinately no tourists, probably because everything was closed by 5. We went to a movie in the small cinemas bout 2 buildings down only cost 5 bucks each and us and 2 other ppl in the cinema so was very relaxed and just what we needed.
Hostel was nice stayed in a 12 bed dorm but there were only 2 other ppl in it with us so was very quite, untill the frenchys came in at midnight talking very loudly and trying to make there beds so that sucked but was kinda expected in a big dorm.
The next morning we up early to get to the bus station to get the bus to Niagara Falls, right on the border of the US and Canada. we had been told that the US side of the falls wasnt worth seein and we should cross over the border, so we walked over the rainbow bridge to Canada, which took about 5 minutes and was definately worth it as the views were amazing and we got some really good photos which we will put when we can. We went on the Maid of the Mist which is a old style steam boat looking thing that took us right next to the falls, we got soaked but our blue garbage bag style ponchos helped keep us dry, was good fun tho. Before we crossed over we got off the bus and we didnt quite know where we were going, suprise suprise... but a nice helpful blind man showed us the way as he was goin over the bridge aswell so it really was the blind leading the blind as they say.
We got the bus back in the arvo without any dramas exept we has half the Jerry Springer show on our bus but i think thats just buffalo so that was interesting. Got back and went to the movies again, there really wasnt anything else to do it was like a ghost town. We did go to a a place called the anchor bar which is where buffalo wings were supposedly invented, so of course we had to try them and they were awesome, pretty tacky place but great food.
Today we came back on the amtrak to New york, wasnt as nice a train as last time but still quite comfortable and pretty empty so we had a few seats to ourselved to sleep on which was good. Got back to NY bout 4 and came to our new hostel for the night, went and did a few loads of washing and went for a walk thru central park while we waited for the washing to be done which was nice, had some very good italian for dinner afterwards.
Off to the natural history museum tomorrow which sounds boring but has dinosaur bones and stuff like that so should be good.
Fly out to London tomorrow night at 9:30 and arrive at 9:30 in the morning in the UK. Meeting up with dave and jenny so we looking forward to that.
We will be in touch soon.
