Got up really really early - saw the last sunrise ( for now ) in beautiful Bondi!! Said goodbye to Craig, Daniel and Sebastian on the roof! Off on mission!! Got the bus to Bondi junction, decided to take the bus to Sydney airport rather than the train as it's like $15 more. Checked in - all fine! I havent brought much stuff since I got out here but for some reason my rucksack is even lighter now! Only 10kgs! Nuts!! Resisted getting a bacon and egg sub - Simone wouldn't share one with me and I couldn't eat a whole one so I suffered on!!! Flight really quick! No bumps - infact I slept all the way! Thanks Scott keeping us awake all night! The thought if him sat at Goldman sachs is reward enough for not getting any sleep due to his drunkenness last night!! Ha ha :-)! Landed in Melbourne! It's freezing - typical! Tried to get a bus from the airport to Shepp but we have to wait nearly 6 hours and it's really expensive! Took the gamble of getting on the sky bus to the city and getting a train! Result!!! Cheaper and leaving in an hour so time for lunch!! Over carrying my rucksack already so sitting on a train for 2 hours is fine by me. Half the journey is train and the rest is bus. Starting to worry that farmer Alf has forgotten we are coming or he has changed his mind... Decide to ring him when we get the Shepparton! He has remembered we are coming - he very nearly deafens me by yelling at Jimmy to get a move on and pick us up now!
Jimmy arrives - not at all what I was expecting! Where us his tractor for a start? Oh well hop in his chavvy car and get going! Our farm is actually in Moroopna which is about ten minutes from Shepp! There is nothing here! Simone has spotted an Aldi shop so she is very a happy German.
Arrived at the farm, it's very small! There are two caravans, both really run down, filthy and falling apart! We decide to share the big one as neither of us want to be in one alone ha ha! Only one bed ATM so we drag the mattress from the other caravan and I bravely decide to sleep on it on the floor right near the door! Oh My God it is so cold! Sleeping bag is not warm enough plus there is a massive hole in the door so I'm getting the breeze! I can see my breathe - fun times! Finally manage to get to sleep for about ten minutes then woken up to crashing! Too scared to even breathe - I'm pretty sure this is going to be my end! Death by some crazy roo or some drunken farmer looking for a wife!! Ekkk this goes on for a good hour! I know Simone is awake too but I'm too scared to call out to her- I'm considering yelling in a low male Aussie accent to her but I must finally pass out from being shattered. Next thing I know it's 6am and time to get up ... Why did I agree to work today??!!! Jimmy is in charge today as Alf is at the Market! Cheers Jimmy - first job get a ride by Hassan on the tractor! Note to self 68 year old Turkish men can not drive tractors!! Make it to the field and pick egg plants till 12! Back breaking work - I'm assured it will get better the more we pick! Lots of flies - drives my crazy plus I'm allergic to the dust on the egg plants so sneeze constantly!! Luckily it's our first day so Jimmy let's us in the shed to learn how to pack with Nermin, Hassans wife!! 3 hours of packing and really dirty hands we finish our first day! Alf is back and hooks up the shower to the gas so a nice hot shower after moving the second bed in the caravan then off for another cold night!!!
