Got to Phnom penh on the cheap and don't we know it, so glad to get off that bus!
Wow life is hard for a local in Cambodia, in Phnom Pehn you see the well off and the damm right poor next door to each other. These people make you think about what do we really have to worry about, have we got the latest gagget and all their concern is where there next bowl of rice is going to come from.
We have had a difficult day today emotionally wise, visiting the horrific site of genocide outside of town - seeing the mass graves (of which there are 343 sites around the country) then the S21 prison within the city where over 10000 men, women and children were tortured and killed between 1975-79.
Followed by a visit to an orphanage in the one of the poorest parts of town, these kids have nothing, living on what we would look at as a rubbish tip. 124 of them live in a ramshakled home, one thing we would say about these kids is they seemed happy and were especially pleased to see us with our 100kgs of rice. (abit of a smile after a sad day)
