So, we've been in Mexico City for a few days now and we're heading towards Villahermosa to meet my friend Karen tomorrow.
Mexico City has been totally different from what I expected: I excpected it to be frantic as it's one of the biggest cities in the world, if not the biggest. That wasn't the case, and the city is much calmer and cleaner than I thought. I've been sick for almost a week now, so we haven't been doing much.. Yesterday we just walked around in the area we live in (Coyoacán) and made a quick visit to downtown Mexico City. The subway system is really good and cheap: it only costs 2 pesos (0,11 €) to ride the subway and the system is one of the most extensive in the world.
Coyacán is a really cool neighbourhood with lots of cafés and restaurants. It is also the place where Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera and Leon Trotsky lived. Their homes have now been turned into museums which we went to see today. We're usually not into museums, but these were really beautiful and interesting and the admission fee was ridiculously small, 20 pesos for students which is equal to 1,13 €.
It's funny how much we've been forced to speak Spanish already, but as our knowledge of Spanish is quite inadequate we've had to resort to body language every now and then. People still seem to understand what we're trying to say, so we haven't gotten into any embarassing situations yet. =)
I'll try to get back to you in a few days!
