Mel & Jammy's Fun Times!
For those of you who keep moaning at me-here's a quick update! Things have changed alot since last writing, we've left the crazy mad world of India behind and are now in Cambodia after a brief stay in Bangkok.
The last week or so in India was really enjoyable and reminded us exactly what 'real india' is all about! We were quite sad to leave having only seen a small part of the country but at the same time a little relieved and excited that we could eat escape the madness and finally eat some meat and drink some cheap beer!
Highlights of our last couple of weeks in India included rafting during a storm in the Kullu valley (Meryl streep eat your heart out) alongside a number of pathetic Indians who were scared to get splashed and our visit to Corbett tiger Reserve where we miraculously saw a real tiger in the wild- I say miraculous as we had basically only seen a thousand and one spotted deer and a few elephants up to this point! Elephants were really cute tho although our guide was so crap that all he could do was point and say 'wild elephant'. Very informative. Sleeping in the jungle lodge was more than a tad scary tho, especially after being told how in the past a man had been dragged from his bed by a hungry tiger. Luckily tho the worst thing that happened during the night was that I got bitten like hell by mossies all over my face and ended up looking like spotty teenager. Sexy.
We also visited Haridwar after coming down from the mountains on a ridiculously long journey. This was the point tho where jammy reached breaking point and wanted to smack every Indian that he came into contact with across the face. Definitely reminded us of real india once you get away from the hills! Scorching heat, hoardes of people, hassle every two steps, people staring at you and dirty accommodation! However the reason we went was to see the indians bathing in the holy (filthy) ganges which was interesting to say the least although I can't say I was tempted to join them for a dip in that water!
So sadly no jammy vs. the monkey stories to report but he did have a slight problem with a rather large pile of cow s*** which he stood in whilst wearing sandals. His toes were covered in it but he did manage to entertain a number of locals!
The flight on Biman Bagladesh Airlines was noway near as bad as we had feared and it's nice to say I've been to Bangladesh I suppose! We had to sit next to a crazy Sikh tho (see photo) who insisted on taking his shirt off cos he was so hot and sat there in his vest!
As for SE asia I will fill you all in next time. Have only visited Bangkok really so far so not much to report other than we couldn't get over how modern and normal it is, somewhat of a reverse culture shock! However scam artists are still rife still rife here and pretty much got had yesterday on the way here by being made to wait for ages so that we would arrive late and stay in their guest house, we're onto those lying scoundrels tho' so just walked away. Will teach us not to take cheap deals in the future!
Until next time folks! Mel and Jammy XXX
