Today we drove up to the tip of the northern peninsula in Newfoundland, which is where the L'Anse aux Meadows national historic site is located. Today we decided to do a boat tour of Western Brook Pond because from what we have read the views are incredible. Western Brook Pond was originally a fjord cut out of the Long Range Mountains and that opened to the ocean. We decided to do a hike in the Tablelands today, which is an area where the upper crust of the Earth's mantle has been pushed up to the surface due to tectonic activity. We didn't want to hike once the day was really hot, though, so we got up fairly early to beat the heat.
