Loire Valley or (Ubers, trains, taxis rental cars and Google maps)
The last time we were in France we planned a trip to the Loire Valley,
- To get our castle on-
Well we were so very tired we canceled and just hung in parks and along the river drinking wine, contemplating beingness and drunkenness.
So this time we approached the Loire with gustso.
We got on a train at O-dark-30 in the morning. Boarded the correct train (yeah us ) and rode onto the Tours station. We de-trained (is that a thing?) and walked out to the station for a taxi so that we could grab up our rental car.
Well not so much, ...it seams that we were not at the correct rental company we did indeed rent a car from Hertz . Just in the previous station. The Hurtz guys was nice enough to call us a cab (the same driver showed up , we all had a big laugh about that!!) And we were off to the station/stop right before our stop. I will give you the highlights on driving in another 1st word Perdu (lost)
Also we should have gone left at the fork. What the hell does that sign mean?is the speed limit 100. Etc ... you understand. We arrived at the sight of our 1st chateau, only there was some miscommunication and we are in the wrong town. We ate here to see some castles dammit. So off we go to Chombard after 3 hours and a massive climb to the top level of the Castle all we wanted was sleep so we ventured our to our hotel. Yall know I love a deal so we booked into what could be a french motor lodge. It was cute quaint and clean. We went to a local store for wine and cheese and picnic ed in the hotel courtyard. The little town is called Bassineaux. It's a lovely little sleepy town with a fantastic /bakery/cafe. And a great spot for cheap eats . (Best crepe ever)
Next day a quick breakfast and some traveling snacks from the bakery and we're off to get our castle on. If I ever buy a castle to live in it will be Chenenseau everything about its presentation is perfect. It's located in the water (partly on a bridge) it actually felt like a home and the grounds were lovely complete with a maze.
It was so photogenic. We then went to DaVinci home. It was his last home, there were representations of his workshops and replicas of his many inventions. The garden showcased many of his inventions lifesized for play.
Finally we got on the road for the completion of you can't get there frome here and that high way is closed also since you are in the boonies with the cows no signal.
We made on the train and back to Paris.
Now I'm am always worried that they make announcements in very fast french and I don't always understand everything said. But we're doing good!
