On Wednesday we caught the Chinatown shuttle bus from Washington DC up to New York. When we arrived in the evening it was raining and it took us ages to walk to our accommodation. It was another of Marc's its only 500 metres away, when actually its about 30 blocks away! Finally we arrived at the Whitehouse Hotel expecting to be able to crash until the next morning. We arrived in Washington after a lot of walking around at Atlanta Airport, being sent from 1 terminal to the next. Eventually, at the third attempt we found the right place. When we landed we hopped on the Metro laden with bags and made our way to our accomodation, a 10 minute Metro ride out of town. We arrived in Las Vegas knowing it would be very hot after seeing the news. Even the airport in Vegas had slot machines! Stepping out of the air conditioned airport was like walking into a sauna, it was 114F which is over 45C! To make matters worse the airport shuttle dropped us off at the wrong Travelodge. There are 3 in the city and he dropped us off at the one in the middle, i even tipped the b******! He drove off before we could catch him, and we couldnt fin...

Last Sunday we caught a shuttle bus from LA to San Francisco. As usual for bus journeys we took extra layers, as although it was boiling outside the air con on buses is mostly set too strong and its very cold. Not on Sunday though, the bus' air con hardly seemed to make any impact on the rising temperatures outside. To make things worse we got stuck for 2 hours on the highway because of a brush fire and then another 30 minutes later on because of an accident....

Well we nearly didnt even get to the US! As some of you know, we had changed our flight tickets out of the USA a long time ago. To get into the USA you need a ticket out, and the only one we have is dated May 9th. We changed our flights whilst we were in New Zealand, and because Virgin Atlantic don't have an office there we were to collect out tickets at LAX when we arrived here.
