We left Kaikoura by bus to get to Picton, where we were to take the Interislander Ferry across the Cook Straight to Wellington and the North Island. Sad to be leaving the South Island, we looked forward to the joys of the North!
We had booked to stay at the Wellington YHA, apparently one of the best hostels in the world. It was nice, but we cant say the same for Wellington. We didnt really like it, though the be fair it did rain for the majority of the time we were there. It was pretty dull, hence there being only 7 photos to look at!
We went to see Spiderman 3 the first evening we were there at the Embassy Theatre, which proudly hosted the Premiers to the Lord of The Rings films and boasts the largest screen in the Southern Hemisphere (though it really wasnt that big, i swear every screen at UCI cinemas is much bigger). The next day we went to have a look at the Beehive, their Parliament House, before going onto Te Papa which is basically their national museum. This was pretty good, we spent ages wondering around and even experienced an earthquake in the "earthquake house". Afterwards we went on the cable car up to the Botanical Gardens.
And that was about it. We left for Taupo knowing we were going to have much more fun......................
