Good morning all!
In Phuket, Thailand at the mo but had no blog time 4 a few weeks so doin some catch up.
After Bangkok (last blog), we headed on a mammoth bus journey to Cambodia- approx 12 hours! Cambodia only has one road (if u can call it that, its no M27!) to Siem Riep and it can only be described as BUMPY! To give u an idea as to its surface it took us 5 hours on a bus to travel 150km. Thats less than 100 miles for all u old skool converters.
Anyways, it was an experience and was well worth it when we got to see Angkor Wat the following day. We took about 120 photos in one day trekking around the huge temples covering over 20 square km. Some of u may recognise some of the scenery from the Tomb Raider films-very cool. No Angellina tho! The whole place was magnificant and u can se why its one of the seven wonders of the world.
The next day we travelled to the capital of Cambodia-Phnoem Pehn. Here we began our stay with a morning at the shooting range. I let off a few rounds with my first shotgun. Very exhilarating stuff. Tim fired an AK47 and we both had to change our pants immediately after. Got videos of both to show u guys when home. U can even fire a rocket launcher at a cow for $200! Maybe next time. Hehe.
We then proceeded to the darker part of our stay in Cambodia. The killing Fields. Here lies the skulls of hundreds of thousands of victims from the massacres that took place under Pol Pots regime in the 1970's. It was a real wake up call and the biggest culture shock yet. The holes that people were buried in are still there to view and a tower of skulls welcomes u to the site.
Next was the Teun Sleung Museum. This was previously a school, turned prison camp for all the victims of the genocide that took place here. The whole place stays permenantly silent as people walk around horrified by what they face. There's still blood stains on the walls of the prison cells where children as young as 7 were tortured then killed.
On a more positive note, we did not get biten by mosquitos once and so avoided catching malaria. The customised-matching outfits we rocked definetely helped i think!
We then took a 16hour bus back to Bangkok and i was lucky enough to have a new born baby boy on my lap for the duration of the journey. Always nice to be repeatedly kicked in the nuts whilst trying to sleep thro dodgy Cambodian pop music. I love children.
When back at Bangkok, we had a few workouts in the park which was a lot of fun. 30p entry to the outdoor gym. We also went to a ping-pong show which i will describe in more detail face to face as they may terminate my account on this website if i describe in detail what went on. Quite impresive, i must say.
Think that'll do 4 now. Can sense people nodding off! Will share my Phuket antics with u soon.
A massive Happy Birthday goes out to my beautiful girlfriend who i miss very much. She is 39 today! Just joking, she's one super hot 26 year old. Happy Birthday baby X
And a RIP shout out goes to my Nans dog, Bess, who was put down yesterday after 17 happy years. We'll miss u fluffy fox X
