Hello all again. I am back in Arequipan so thought I´d write another quick bit whilst I know i´m near internet. Next blog probably wont be until after Machu Piccu which we start the trek for on Monday.
Well, the night out was very good. We started with drinks back at ours before a meal out. Me and Adam shared a Guinea Pig and a Steak for Dinner. The guinea pig was as flat as a panckae and still fully intact. It wasnt that nice and had the consistency of crispy duck. I have had it since in a different style and It was much better. Also on the food front I have had Alpaca which was nice but nothing special. After we hit a bar and then a club. I drank a bit to much piscos and cusquenos as the next part of the story demonstartes....
After getting in at about 3am we were up around 6 for breakfast. Then we started a 4hour rough road bus ride to Chivay. I was definately not feeling to good in the stomach. To add to this we were travelling upto heights of 4910metres (as can be seen on the written rock photo in whte chalk). I got out at this point and walked around for a bit to take a few photos to have a man just go completely faint and collapse right in front of me due to lack of oxygen. We finally made it to chivay and whilst the others went for a little stroll I slept of the bad tummy.
The next day we were up`at 5am for breakfast before a two hour ride to cruz de condor to see the condors flying and do a 1h hike. It was a really nice day and we all managed to catch the sun. The hike was to get us prepared for the altitude at this point we were at 3800m. In the afternoon we returned to the hotel for a nap, much appreciated by all. Later we hit the thermal springs in town and spent an hour in them sipping on cool cusquenos. This is life!! After we went to town for dinner and some dancing entertainment was provided by some locals. An early night and up at 7 to head back here to Arequipa. Spent the afternoon by the pool and catching up on sleep. Out for dinner in an hour, won´t be drinking tonight though, 4am start and a flight to Cuzco.
As I say the inca trail starts on Monday so two days in Cuzco doing various activites and arriving in Macchu Piccu on Thursday or Friday.
Until then! xx
PS Team Alpaca Members, if you are reading this, I have enlisted several more more members as you can see in the photos, some of them are Vicunos and llamas though.
