Hello again,
Just a note to update you on my whereabouts. Arrived in New Zealand at 5.15am this morning, after a 12hhr 45 min flight from Los Angeles but as flights go was not too bad.
Have spent the last week in Vancouver with Alison and Manabu which was really cool (but at the same time it was too damned hot 30 degrees again!!!) However now thinking that it was not too bad as it is absolutely pissing down here. (Helen if you still want to go rafting your insane as its freezing!!!).
Will be in Auckland for a couple of days before heading down to Napier for a wedding. That takes place on the 7 Aug and after that will probably do a bit of touring. Not sure how long the stay will be here, but if it keeps raining Australia will start to look more attractive.
Will post another message and more pictures at the next opportunity.
Take care all.

I've just checked out your web site, and it looks like you're having a good trip. Your photo's need to have a little more in them.... Maybe a couple ofthe natives (females). Oh yes while i remember Woz, Jayne and Tyler say a big HELLO, They've been asking how you are getting on.

Thank you for taking stomach ache. Now I no longer have to look at it in fear while hanging at 134. You did me a great service. Just be sure to tie him up when you sleep. I've woken up to find Mike hovering over me at times in a not so proper way. It's those creepy eyes. Treat him as if you were traveling with a known criminal who has not given up his life of crime.
By the way. Glad you're having a good time. NY misses you.
Chris
checked out the website, very cool...dude!! try and get your ugly mug in a few more shots though....that "thing" is hogging the limelight!

I suppose I better explain why the site is called Matt and Microbe world tour - anyone at Bombardier can blame Peter Martin for this - however its cool with the ladies!!!
Peter suggested that i take a mascot with me wherever i visit and take pictures of it in different places.
Having mentioned this to my man Gary P in NY, he came up with the Giant microbes.com. Apparently as a way of teaching kids about germs and hygiene a toy company has created toys which resemble the actual bugs you would see under the microscope. (Haven't yet seen any for Anthrax - maybe they're on the way) (Peter thought this better than Mr Potato Head as he doesn't fall to pieces as often).
So having decided what to take with me it came down to choosing one from stomach ache, cold, etc. In the end I went with Stomach Ache because his eyes looked evil (cheers Ali). Having selected the germ in question it was time to name him - given that he is a microbe he became Mike. If you pay attention to the photo albums you might see him checking out the various sites.
Next to come on the message board - 22 Uses for Toast.

Just about got some time left on my exorbitantly charged web access. Have now arrived in Banff having covered 2500 miles in the last week. Have got to the backpackers today and got a few things planned for the next couple of days and then i start the move down to Vancouver. About two days driving i thin but will take three so that i can go and see some places on the way. Will hopefully post some more pictures this week but the offexploring people are trying to sort out some problems i have been having. If it works there will be new photos to see this week.
Spending 4/5 days here and then a week in Vancouver. Then over to New Zealand for johns wedding - yippee people i know!!
Anyway will post more this week when i get a chance - maybe tomorrow you never know!!
Matt
Hello again everybody.
Have finally found somewhere where I can access my mail, so thought I would post on the site as well. Arrived in Toronto on Mon 5 July, and proceeeded down to Niagara. Saw both the american and canadian falls - but definitely not as big as they look on television. Started raining - bang goes 10 days worth of very hot sunshine in New York. Turned around went back up to Toronto where I got completely lost for 2 hours. Finally made it out on to the Trans Canadian Highway and started working my way across Canada.
Stayed in a place called Barrie for the night, and then left the next morning aiming to get to Sault (pronounced Soo) Saint Marie. Around about 600 km in total and well knackering. Day started fine but about half way through it started raining again - what the hell. Kept going and decided to camp for the night as I thought it about time to start saving some money etc.
Anyway had hoped the rain would stop but it didn't - so put up tent in rain the inner got wet, the outer got wet - what fun. Rain eased off later but it kept raining all night so woke up wetter. Suffice it to say stowed tent (wet) and drove through to Thunder Bay. Highlight of trip - I SAW MY FIRST MOOSE - bloody great black thing - but was going too fast for a picture.
Uneventful trip but covered a good 700km and stayed in hostel in Thunder bay. Spent today in Thunder bay as thought it a good opportunity for a rest. I have got to drive 2000km in the next three days and may even have to go further as going to Calgary which has an absolutley huge rodeo on at the moment, and thus is booked to the hilt. If I can't find a hostel it'll be camping again!!!!
Spent most of the day at a Hudson River company reconstruction - showed you how they exported furs to the european markets etc quite interesting.
Tomorrow I am driving through to Winnipeg, and depdning on how I feel may push on a little further as will be hitting the plains for the two days after that and it will be deathly boring.
Anyway hope all are well and will post next opportunity I get. Gary cheers for sorting out the photos - I will have to see when I get to Calgary if i can get some posted.
Take it easy.

Hey there again Matt. Well, since I spoke with you a couple hours ago and know more about what you're doing than anyone else... I thought I'd let YOU and everyone else know that the picture upload problem has been resolved (as you'll see when you click on PHOTO ALBUMS). So EVERYONE! Take a look at his pix already. = D

Hey Matt.
So, I just heard from Gary that you are already having a great time in Canada. Knew you would. I just wanted to tell you how wonderful it was hanging out. It was a damn funny week. A little trio we were. I hope you enjoyed it. I mean, you did see frogs, spider-man, icecream, the falling in side of a lake, a concert, too much walking...damn it as an eventful week- since I know that was only a tiny recap. Anyway, good luck with your long drive. I'll be sending good vibes your way. Oh, and so you know things went well today so I might be in Japan in the next couple months. My oh my. Now off I go. Drive safely!
