On Thursday we went to Hampi on a sleeper bus, the trip there wasn't too bad but coming back I could have very easily killed the driver. Doing 10mph along straight easy roads, then 40 over speed bumps to send everyone flying up to hit their heads on the bunk above! Hampi itself was interesting, although we didn't stay long enough to get into the traveller scene and enjoy it. We were thrown against the side of the bus as soon as we departed by rickshaw drivers offering their services.
We picked one and went for breakfast before seeing the temples. They were magnificent, but to be honest I'm not sure how much I was appreciating them 5 hours later in the midday heat. Jay and I felt like we were the star attraction at the zoo again, and back here in Palolem which we have come to think of as home, that doesn't happen. We walked back to our hut from Chaudi, about 4km, in the middle of the night/morning. We were accosted by some dogs we don't know who started to turn nasty but we were saved by Rambo, our local dog who saw them off and then accompanied us to our hut and was still sitting at the bottom of our stairs when we woke up. The dogs here are ridiculously loyal to travellers because of the way the locals treat them.
We're going to stay here for a while longer, until after Christmas at least. Well thats all for a little while, again, hoping everyone is well.
