Nick forgoes tasting this morning as he has to drive, but suggests Ali takes her cornflakes with her to have with the calvados. Didier has a fine set up, with an array of recently installed shiny stainless steel stills and a range of drinks from apple juice to a vintage calvados at €140/bottle.
We know our place and just buy some pear cider.
Yesterday we had wanted to combine everything into one service day, as we needed diesel and LPG, but with France closed for the day we have to go in search of fossil fuels today instead.
This time we arrive early at the SuperU in Gorron, not wanting to be shut out of the garage at lunchtime like our previous two mistakes. Ali gets some shopping while we’re there.
Gorron is a pleasant little town and on the way to the supermarket we spotted the aire by a little stream, with flower strewn cottages just across the way, so we pull in to work out where we might like to go next.
The interesting things are a bit further away and since it is quiet here with free electricity, we decide on another chill out day. There will be time for rushing about, visiting places and so on, but for now taking it easy is just what we need.
Late afternoon a French van pulls in beside us. Madame comes over and asks if we will share the electricity, which of course we will. Monsieur has a ‘Y’ piece adapter but before he plugs in Madame is saying something about frigidaire closed. Eventually we get it; she wants us to switch off our fridge while they make the connection as once when they plugged in with their fridge already on it went ‘kaputt’ and she didn’t want to make our frigidaire kaputt.
Rain comes in the evening but we batten down and enjoy pork chops from the passion at Tremblay with the cidre we bought this morning.
Everything we own with a plug gets charged on the free electric.
