Salta, Argentina
We arrived in Salta after a long and uncomfortable 18hr bus ride from Mendoza only to find that the hostel we'd booked was already full. They arranged for us to stay one night at another hotel, however, because it was a long weekend and public holiday in Argentina we spent most of our second day there trying to find a place to stay. We managed to find some modest accomodation at Hostel CorreCamino ($150ARP/n -dbl) and set off on a 1070-stair walk up a mountain that overlooks the city of Salta. I documented Charlotte's multiple heart-attacks and lung failures along the way, check out the photos.
On our third and last day in Salta we went horseback riding at Cabalgatas Gauchas ranch and had a traditional, delicious, Argentinian barbecue. Charlotte got in touch with her inner cowboy and I accidently let five of the rancher's horses escape from the corral after forgetting to close the gate. He found them in a paddock about 1km away, no harm done. Also noteworthy was my ladies riding hat, which is a must for any cowboy trying to look the part...
Later that evening we went to a very cheesy cultural dinner show with some German friends we'd met horseback riding, and then boarded our 12-hr bus to San Pedro de Atecama in Chile. Goodbye Argentina!
