Hey guys,
Since we left you we have completed the final leg of our boat journey, had a good sleep in a proper bed, got on yet another boat then have eventually flown from Bali to Kuala Lumpur on our way to Vietnam. So I've got a bit to talk about as we have been on some form of transport for most of the last 4 days.
Anyway I'll start with the end of our boat trip. We spent our last evening playing Pictionary using paint on the computer, which actually turned out to be more fun than it sounds, especially with Gemma's interesting animal depictions! In the morning we docked just off the island of Moyo. This is a large island about the size of Singapore but with only a total of 5 villages so it is relatively unspoilt and renowned for adventure activates in the area. We didn't really know what to expect as the tour listing just described it as a waterfall visit. On the way to the waterfall our boat group was joined by loads of Indonesian children from the village keen to show us the waterfall. As soon as we got there we realised why… they had built a large rope swing at the top of the water which swung over the top of the falls and then they let go and jumped into the deep pool below. Almost as soon as we had seen a few of the kids do it we all wanted to have a go ourselves! Needless to say none of us had quite the finesse of the children who managed to do flips and all sorts of other cool dismounts, but it was good fun all the same. I think I got a bit too over confident in the end and tried to flip upside down while jumping of the rope but failed miserably and ended up rotating into a belly flop from 3 metres into the water, much to Katie and Gemma's amusement (I was very pink when I re-surfaced!). Gemma had clearly recovered from her stomach upset slightly as every time we turned round she was throwing herself off the waterfall again.
After our action packed morning it was time to set sail again thankfully for the last time, but it was a long journey that was only broken up by a brief stop on a beach and numerous games of Yahtzee with the other passengers on the boat (we've all the fun games on this trip). We eventually got back to harbour at around 7pm then had a 3 hour bus journey back to Senggigi. I think everyone was pleased to finally be off the boat (which was technically more of a floating shed) but it did allow us to see some really amazing places and was a great experience.
Luckily for us the company we had been sailing with had help us to book some accommodation in advance so when we arrived in Senggigi all we had to do was check in and crash. The hotel was made up of several bungalows and was surprisingly nice for the price, although we would all have been happy just to have a mattress that was wider then 2ft with no sand on it and fresh running water that didn't smell of diesel! We did spend a bit of the evening having a well earned cold beer in the bar over the road and watched the end of the Monaco Grand Prix.
In the morning we had to get up to get on yet another boat to sail back to Bali; this was the same boat that we had encountered a very rough crossing with on the way to Gili T a week previously but with mine and Katie's visas running out and flights booked we needed to get to Bali as soon as possible. Luckily the crossing was really quite smooth and allowed us to get a little bit more tanning time in at the front of the boat. It was only once we got to the other side that things started to take a bit longer! We had booked a through transfer that included the boat and then the bus from the port to Kuta, so we assumed that we might be in Kuta by 3pm, however we didn't realise the bus had to go the long way picking people up from Ubud and other towns on route. We eventually arrived back in Kuta about half 5 which wasn't then end of the world but travelling from 9 to half 5 after spending 5 days on the boat was tough going.
None of us had very long in Kuta (thankfully...we've all decided it's a bit of a dump!) because we all had early flights the next day. We are all heading to Vietnam but taking slightly different routes. Katie and me are going via Kuala Lumpur, while Gemma is going via Jakarta and getting there the evening before. So we all got up at a very sociable 5am and got a taxi to the airport before splitting off in our various directions.
We have now arrived in KL for the 3rd time this trip, where to be honest we don't have much planned as we are only here overnight before flying tomorrow. I think we might treat ourselves to a game of bowling in the fantastic shopping centre we visited on our previous visit (think the theme park might be a bit excessive). Will keep you all updated once we arrive in Vietnam hopefully with lots more adventures to talk about.
Lots of love Martin, Katie and Gemma

DAD S Katie. I will bet my mortgage that this will be the nearest your mum will ever get to the dragons (after she's read the blogs and lookied at the photos)..........they're ghastly. I can safetly say that Kimodo Island can be taken off the "must do places" xxx
Mum S Well if I never get to see the komodos and let's face it, I can never consider the boat I am in serious need of some dragon facts. They presumably are reptiles so do they lay eggs? How many babies do they have and what do they eat (other than tourists???) I still think they're fascinating and can't believe you stood so close to them! They make me think of crocs and I know they can run 30 mph! The landscapes are amazing - Red Beach looked one of the best beaches on your trip. Love Mxxx
